Jaws of Life Used to Rob ATM at Kingwood Bank, Houston Police Say

HOUSTON, Texas โ€” The Houston Police Department is investigating a bank ATM heist in Kingwood where suspects utilized a heavy-duty hydraulic tool, commonly referred to as the 'jaws of life,' to break open the machine.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early morning hours. Surveillance footage captured suspects using the specialized rescue toolโ€”typically used by firefighters to extract car crash victimsโ€”to rip open the ATM's outer shell and access the cash vault inside. The suspects successfully extracted an undisclosed sum of money and fled the area before police arrived.

HPD detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and asking anyone with information regarding suspicious vehicles or individuals in the area around the time of the incident to contact the local police department or Crime Stoppers.
