Caught on Camera: Copper Theft Leaves Northwest Harris County Restaurant Without Power
HOUSTON, Texas โ A local restaurant in Northwest Harris County was left completely in the dark after a targeted copper theft disrupted its operations and cut off electrical power.
Surveillance cameras captured the suspect during the early hours of the morning dismantling electrical equipment and stripping critical copper wiring from the exterior of the property. The theft caused immediate power loss to the facility, forcing the business to close temporarily while repairs were conducted.
Copper thefts have increasingly plagued commercial properties throughout the Houston metropolitan area, as criminals target HVAC units, generators, and electrical junctions for the resale value of the metal. Restaurant owners are now looking into enhanced security measures, including protective cages for electrical infrastructure and increased lighting, to deter future incidents.
Local law enforcement is reviewing the surveillance footage to identify the suspect. Anyone with information concerning copper theft in the Northwest Harris County area is encouraged to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
