Two Men Arrested Red-Handed in Early Morning ATM Heist on Houston's South Side

HOUSTON, Texas — Two men are in custody after being caught red-handed by law enforcement during a commercial ATM heist on Houston's South Side.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours when officers responded to an active commercial burglary in progress. Upon arrival, police intercepted the two suspects as they attempted to break into and extract cash from an outdoor automated teller machine (ATM).

The rapid response from the Houston Police Department prevented the theft from being fully executed. Both suspects were detained at the scene without further incident. Officers recovered tools commonly associated with heavy-duty burglary, which were being used to breach the secure casing of the ATM.

Charges are pending for both individuals as investigators examine whether they are connected to other recent ATM break-ins or retail burglaries in the Houston area. Commercial property owners are advised to ensure all cash-handling units are equipped with functional alarms and high-definition surveillance.
