Surveillance Video Shows Suspect Stealing Cigarettes and Overpowering Clerk at Houston Convenience Store

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who was caught on surveillance video stealing cartons of cigarettes and physically overpowering a store clerk.

The incident occurred at a convenience store in Houston. Security footage captured a male suspect walking behind the counter to access the tobacco products. When the store clerk attempted to intervene and protect the inventory, the situation escalated into a physical struggle.

Clerk Overpowered During Struggle

The video shows the suspect using physical force to overpower the clerk, pushing them out of the way to gain access to the shelves. After grabbing multiple cartons of cigarettes, the suspect quickly exited the store and fled in an unknown direction. The clerk suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Police Ask for Public Assistance

Investigators have released screenshots and video clips of the suspect in hopes that someone will recognize him. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston Police Department or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
