Houston Man Charged with Manslaughter Following Fatal Attempted ATM Theft

A Houston man is facing manslaughter charges following a botched attempt to steal an automated teller machine (ATM) that resulted in the death of his fellow suspect. The incident has highlighted the dangerous nature of such high-risk criminal activities.

According to the Houston Police Department, the two suspects were attempting to rip an ATM from its mounting using a vehicle when the heist went wrong. During the struggle to dislodge the machine, one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

Following a rapid investigation, the surviving suspect was arrested and formally charged with manslaughter, in addition to charges related to the attempted theft. Under Texas law, individuals can be held criminally responsible for a death that occurs during the commission of certain felony offenses.

The suspect remains in custody pending a court appearance, while the police department continues to compile evidence and review surveillance footage from the location of the attempted robbery.
