Gas Station Clerk Wounded in Attempted Robbery on Indianapolis's Northeast Side

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — An attempted armed robbery at a northeast Indianapolis gas station turned violent when a suspect shot a clerk before fleeing the scene empty-handed.

The shooting took place on March 25, 2025. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers rushed to the gas station following reports of an active robbery and gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found a male employee suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was quickly treated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect entered the convenience store, brandished a firearm, and demanded cash from the register. During the confrontation, the suspect discharged the weapon, striking the clerk, and subsequently fled on foot without taking any money or goods.

Detectives are actively gathering security video footage from the station and adjacent commercial areas to construct a description of the shooter. The police department asks anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact IMPD or leave an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers.
