Video Captures Intruder Breaking Into Indianapolis Home and Stealing from Family

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis family is pleading for public assistance after a home security camera captured a man breaking into their residence and stealing items while a mother and her children were home.

The incident occurred on Wednesday on the city's north side. Surveillance footage shows a man approaching the back of the home, forcing open a window, and entering the property. The homeowner, a mother of two, stated that she and her young children were upstairs when she heard unusual noises coming from the lower level. Although the family remained unharmed, the suspect managed to flee with electronics and personal documents before police arrived.

The victim shared the surveillance video with local media and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in hopes that someone would recognize the suspect. IMPD is currently analyzing the footage and asking anyone who might have seen suspicious activity in the neighborhood to contact them immediately.

“It's terrifying to know someone was in our house while we were here,” the homeowner said. Police are advising residents to ensure their windows and doors are securely locked and to consider installing motion-activated lighting.
