Indianapolis Suspect Arrested After Armed Robbery Spree Targeting Gig Workers and Convenience Store

INDIANAPOLIS โ€” A central Indiana suspect is behind bars following a terrifying string of armed robberies over a four-day period that targeted vulnerable gig economy workers and a local business.

Court documents filed in Marion County identify the suspect as Lauras Jean Francois. According to investigators with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), Francois orchestrated three distinct armed robberies between July 19 and July 22, 2025.

The crime spree began on Saturday, July 19, 2025, when a pizza delivery driver was lured to an address on the city's east side. Upon arrival, the driver was confronted by a suspect who brandished a firearm and demanded all cash, personal electronics, and the delivery food order. Two days later, on Monday, July 21, the suspect requested a Lyft ride-share service. During the trip, Francois allegedly threatened the driver at gunpoint near a Burger King restaurant, forcing them to hand over their wallet before fleeing on foot.

The spree culminated on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, when a convenience store worker was held up at gunpoint. The suspect managed to steal approximately $2,000 in cash from the register.

IMPD detectives utilized surveillance video, cellular tracking data, and ride-share logs to narrow down their search to Francois. A search warrant executed at Francois's residence recovered crucial evidence linking him to the crimes, including a stolen pizza delivery bag, a black ski mask, and a distinctive blue iPhone visible in several security camera feeds. Francois is currently held in the Marion County Jail on multiple counts of armed robbery and pointing-a-firearm felony charges.
