Inland Empire Teenager Arrested Following Facebook Marketplace Robbery in Irvine

An Inland Empire teenager has been taken into custody by Irvine police officers following an alleged robbery during a scheduled Facebook Marketplace transaction.

The incident occurred when the victim and the suspect agreed to meet in Irvine to finalize a sale arranged through the popular social media platform. However, instead of completing the exchange, the teenager allegedly robbed the victim and fled the scene.

Responding officers quicky launched an investigation, identifying and locating the suspect shortly thereafter. The Irvine Police Department cautions residents to use designated Safe Exchange Zones, such as police station parking lots or well-lit public areas, when meeting strangers for online marketplace transactions to ensure safety and prevent similar incidents.
