Two Women Arrested After Shoplifting and Assaulting Employee at Irvine Retailer

Two women are facing charges of robbery, grand theft, and assault after a retail shoplifting incident escalated into violence at an Irvine shopping center, authorities reported. The arrest occurred on June 23, 2025, following a swift response by Irvine police officers to a disturbance call at the store.

Assault on Store Employee

According to police, the two suspects entered the retail store and began concealing various merchandise items, intending to leave without paying. When a store employee noticed the suspicious behavior and attempted to intervene near the exit, the two suspects reportedly turned aggressive. Rather than complying or dropping the merchandise, the women physically assaulted the employee, striking them multiple times before attempting to flee.

The store's security team and witnesses immediately contacted law enforcement while keeping track of the suspects' direction of flight. The injured employee sustained minor abrasions and bruising but did not require emergency medical treatment.

Swift Apprehension and Legal Action

Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and located the two women in a nearby parking lot as they were preparing to leave the area. The suspects were detained and positively identified by store personnel. The stolen merchandise was successfully recovered and returned to the retailer.

Both women were arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on multiple charges, including commercial robbery and assault.
