Frequent Will County Inmate Arrested for Robbing Joliet Thornton's Gas Station

JOLIET, IL — A frequent inmate of the Will County Adult Detention Center is facing new charges after allegedly robbing a Thornton's gas station in Joliet, according to a criminal complaint filed in Will County court.

The incident occurred on June 7, 2024, when the suspect, who has a history of prior arrests and incarceration in the area, entered the Thornton's gas station. According to police reports, the individual threatened employees and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise.

Joliet Police officers responded to the scene and were able to quickly identify the suspect using surveillance footage due to his prior encounters with local law enforcement. He was apprehended shortly thereafter and booked back into jail, where he remains held pending a detention hearing.
