Kansas City Police Investigate Overnight Theft from U-Haul Rental Truck at Hotel

KANSAS CITY, MO — Detectives with the Kansas City Police Department are investigating a commercial vehicle burglary that occurred overnight in the parking lot of a local hotel, targeting a U-Haul rental truck.

According to police reports, suspects gained forced entry to the cargo section of the parked U-Haul truck during the night of October 15–16, 2024. The perpetrators managed to remove a significant quantity of transport inventory and merchandise before fleeing the scene undetected.

Ongoing Investigation

The victims, who were staying at the hotel during a transit trip, discovered the break-in the following morning. KCPD officers have completed a crime scene report and are currently seeking security camera footage from the hotel and neighboring establishments to identify the suspects and any getaway vehicles involved. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains open.
