Police Investigate Attempted ATM Theft at Lafayette Catalyst Bank

Lafayette police are investigating an attempted theft targeting an automated teller machine (ATM) at a Catalyst Bank branch. The incident occurred during the early hours, drawing immediate response from patrol officers who arrived to find the machine heavily damaged but still intact.

According to bank representatives and initial police reports, the perpetrators attempted to breach the ATM using heavy tools or a vehicle in a bid to access the cash vault inside. Despite inflicting significant structural damage to the exterior of the machine and the surrounding enclosure, the suspects were unsuccessful in retrieving any money before fleeing the scene.

Detectives are reviewing high-definition security footage from the bank's exterior cameras and neighboring businesses.
