Costa Mesa Burglary Suspects Apprehended in Lakewood After Multi-County Pursuit

A commercial burglary in Costa Mesa led to a dramatic multi-county high-speed pursuit that ended with multiple arrests in Lakewood. The incident began when local officers were alerted to a burglary in progress at a Costa Mesa retail business, where several suspects were seen loading stolen merchandise into a vehicle.

As police closed in, the suspects sped away, initiating a pursuit that crossed from Orange County into Los Angeles County. The driver of the getaway vehicle operated with complete disregard for public safety, weaving through traffic and traveling at extreme speeds on regional freeways. The California Highway Patrol and local agencies coordinated to monitor the chase as it moved north.

The pursuit finally terminated when the suspects entered a Lakewood neighborhood and abandoned the vehicle. Officers quickly established a containment zone, blocking off local streets to prevent the suspects from escaping. With assistance from air support and K-9 units, police located and arrested the suspects hidden in the area. Recovered merchandise and evidence from the vehicle have been returned to Costa Mesa authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
