Burglary Suspect Identified and Charged After Crashing Getaway Car into Tree on San Bernardo Avenue

LAREDO, Texas — The Laredo Police Department has identified and charged a suspect following a failed burglary attempt on San Bernardo Avenue that culminated in a dramatic vehicle crash. The suspect, whose getaway attempt was cut short when he collided with a tree, now faces multiple felony charges.

According to police officers, the incident began when dispatchers received an emergency call regarding an active commercial burglary at a business located along the San Bernardo Avenue corridor. As officers arrived at the scene, the suspect jumped into a vehicle and attempted to flee at high speed. However, just blocks away from the crime scene, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree on the side of the road.

Responding officers quickly secured the crash scene and detained the driver, who sustained minor injuries in the collision. Following medical evaluation and clearance, he was booked into the county jail. Investigators identified the individual and formally charged him with burglary of a building, evading arrest with a vehicle, and reckless driving.

Detectives recovered stolen merchandise and burglary tools from the crashed vehicle. The Laredo Police Department emphasized that swift coordination by patrol officers prevented the suspect from escaping, and thanked local residents who witnessed the crash and quickly directed police to the vehicle.
