Vado Man Arrested for Robbing Las Cruces Convenience Store with Flashlight Disguised as Taser

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico — Police have arrested a 21-year-old Vado man in connection with an unusual robbery at a local convenience store, during which he allegedly threatened an employee with a flashlight disguised as a taser.

The incident occurred at the Eagle Quick Mart located in Las Cruces. According to police reports, the suspect entered the store and brandished a device that appeared to be a stun gun or taser, demanding money from the clerk. However, investigators later determined that the weapon used during the heist was actually a standard flashlight modified to simulate the appearance and sound of a taser.

Officers responded quickly to the alarm and were able to track down and apprehend the suspect, identifying him as a 21-year-old resident of nearby Vado. He has been charged with armed robbery and is currently held at the local detention facility. No injuries were reported during the incident, and police successfully recovered the fake taser along with the stolen cash.
