Police Arrest Man Accused of Using iPad to Rob Two Las Vegas Banks
LAS VEGAS, NV โ A highly unusual series of bank robberies has culminated in an investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) after an unidentified suspect allegedly used a digital tablet to execute the heists. The suspect is reported to have targeted two different financial institutions in the Las Vegas valley, using an iPad to present his demands to the tellers.
The iPad Modus Operandi
According to police reports, the suspect entered the first banking location and approached the counter. Instead of the traditional handwritten demand note, the man presented a digital screenโspecifically an iPadโwhich displayed a typed message demanding cash and threatening violence if the employee failed to comply. Fearing for their safety, the teller complied with the digital instructions, handing over an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect fled the premises.
A short time later, a second bank in the vicinity reported a matching robbery. Investigators believe the same individual entered the branch and once again utilized the tablet to demand money. The high-tech approach has caught the attention of both local law enforcement and federal investigators, who are now analyzing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrator.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Authorities have released description details of the suspect, describing him as a male adult who was dressed in casual attire during both incidents. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information, dashboard camera footage, or security footage from the surrounding areas to contact their Robbery Section or reach out anonymously via Crime Stoppers. Investigators are also working closely with bank security teams to determine if the iPad was connected to any local network during the incidents, which could potentially assist in tracing the device.
