Teenage Suspect Arrested Following Armed Robbery in Lexington

LEXINGTON, KY — A teenage suspect is in custody following a rapid response by the Lexington Police Department to an armed robbery that took place on Sunday, February 2, 2025. The swift arrest has provided reassurance to local residents and businesses in the area where the incident occurred.

According to official reports from the Lexington Police Department, the armed robbery took place during the late afternoon hours. The suspect approached a victim, brandished a firearm, and demanded the victim hand over their personal belongings and cash. Fearing for their life, the victim complied with the suspect's demands. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The victim, who was not physically harmed during the encounter, immediately contacted emergency services and provided a detailed description of the perpetrator and their direction of travel.

Armed with this information, responding officers quickly flooded the surrounding neighborhood. Within minutes, officers spotted a juvenile matching the description near a local park. Following a short foot pursuit, the suspect was safely detained. During a subsequent search, police recovered the victim's stolen belongings, as well as a loaded handgun matching the description of the weapon used in the robbery.

The teenager, whose name and identity are being withheld due to state juvenile privacy laws, was formally arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and possession of a handgun by a minor. The suspect was subsequently booked into the Fayette County Juvenile Detention Facility under secure custody.
