Lincoln Man Arrested for Burglary, Auto Theft, and Arson in Southwest Lincoln
Arrest in Multi-Felony Crime Spree
On June 2, 2026, the Lincoln Police Department announced the arrest of a 47-year-old Lincoln man in connection with a series of crimes involving burglary, auto theft, and arson in southwest Lincoln. The suspect, identified as Joshua Watkins, was apprehended following a swift investigation by local patrol officers and fire investigators.
Business Burgled and Stolen Truck Set Ablaze
The incident began during the overnight hours of May 31 to June 1, 2026, when Watkins allegedly broke into a commercial establishment located near South 6th Street and West Pioneers Boulevard. The suspect ransacked the business, stealing tools and other property, and drove off in a pickup truck belonging to the business owner. Shortly after the burglary, emergency crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire nearby and discovered the stolen pickup truck engulfed in flames, which investigators determined was intentionally set.
Apprehension and Charges
During the search of the area, officers located Watkins not far from the burning vehicle. Upon detaining him, they discovered he was carrying items stolen from the business. In a bizarre twist, Watkins was also found to be wearing clothes belonging to the victim, which he had swapped into during the burglary. Watkins was arrested and booked into the Lancaster County Jail, where he faces felony charges of burglary, theft, auto theft, and arson. The investigation remains ongoing as police look into whether Watkins is connected to other recent property crimes in the area.
