Thieves Crash Van Into South Los Angeles Check-Cashing Store in Failed Burglary Attempt

Authorities are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary attempt that took place in South Los Angeles early in the morning of March 24, 2025. According to reports, a group of thieves utilized a van as a battering ram, reversing the vehicle through the storefront of a local check-cashing business.

The impact caused extensive damage to the building's exterior structure and security gates. Despite the aggressive tactics used to breach the premises, the suspects were unable to secure any cash and fled the scene before police units arrived. LAPD is currently reviewing security camera footage from the business and neighboring shops to identify the suspects and trace the vehicle, which is believed to be stolen.
