Hollywood business damaged in smash-and-grab using truck as battering ram

HOLLYWOOD, Los Angeles — Thieves used a truck as a battering ram to smash through the front of a business in Hollywood, executing a retail theft and leaving behind a trail of destruction.

The crime occurred in the early hours of May 8, 2026. Investigators report that the suspects positioned a truck and drove it backward through the front entrance of the retail store. The force of the crash demolished the security gates, windows, and structural framing of the storefront, causing thousands of dollars in property damage.

After breaching the exterior, the perpetrators quickly entered the store, cleared out high-value merchandise, and loaded it into the truck or an accompanying vehicle before speeding away. Los Angeles Police Department officers arrived shortly after alarms were triggered, but the suspects had already fled. LAPD detectives are asking anyone with information or footage of the incident to contact local authorities.
