Rooftop Burglary at LA Jewelry Store Prompts Owner to Consider Leaving the City
LOS ANGELES, CA โ A jewelry store owner is contemplating shutting down operations and leaving Los Angeles entirely after a burglar bypassed storefront security by breaking in through the roof of the building.
The incident occurred on February 9, 2026. According to authorities and the store's owner, the intruder managed to scale the building and cut a hole in the roof to gain entry, avoiding the heavy security shutters and alarms set up around the front windows and doors. Once inside, the thief targeted high-value jewelry pieces before escaping through the same rooftop entry point.
The store owner expressed deep frustration with the incident, stating that despite investing heavily in state-of-the-art security systems, the persistent and evolving methods of criminals have made operating a business in Los Angeles increasingly untenable. The owner publicly threatened to relocate the business to a different region if safety and commercial security conditions in the city do not improve. The LAPD is actively investigating the rooftop break-in and searching for any security footage or witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity on the roof during the night of the burglary.
