LAPD Arrests Two Suspects Connected to Multi-Million Dollar Computer and Cargo Thefts at LAX and San Fernando Valley
LOS ANGELES, CA โ The Los Angeles Police Department has announced the arrest of two individuals linked to a major cargo theft ring responsible for stealing millions of dollars in electronics and commercial freight. The operation led to the recovery of high-value computer shipments stolen from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and cargo found hidden in the San Fernando Valley.
Detectives specializing in commercial crimes and cargo theft tracked the suspects following a detailed investigation into the disappearance of a massive shipment of computers valued at approximately $2.7 million from an LAX freight facility. The theft had prompted concerns about security protocols at airport shipping hubs, which handle large volumes of high-value commercial tech products daily.
Cargo Recovered in San Fernando Valley
In addition to the LAX computer heist, the investigation led officers to a location in the San Fernando Valley, where they discovered and recovered an additional $1.2 million in stolen cargo. The recovered freight consisted of various commercial goods that had been diverted or stolen from shipping trucks and warehouses in Southern California.
โThese arrests represent a significant blow to an organized group targeting transit infrastructure in our region,โ said an LAPD officer. โCargo theft not only impacts businesses but ultimately increases costs for consumers. We are continuing our investigation to determine if these individuals are connected to other unresolved shipping thefts.โ
Securing Critical Transport Hubs
Cargo theft has become an increasingly sophisticated enterprise in Southern California, which serves as a primary logistical gateway for the nation. Law enforcement agencies, including the LAPD and airport police, have stepped up coordination with private transport firms and logistics companies to share intelligence and harden defenses at shipping facilities, warehouses, and ports.
