Louisville Small Businesses Face Difficult Recovery After Thanksgiving Day Break-Ins

LOUISVILLE, KY โ€” While most families were gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving, several small business owners in Louisville were met with a devastating holiday surprise. The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) is currently investigating a rash of commercial break-ins that occurred early Thanksgiving morning, leaving local shops damaged and facing costly repairs.

According to police reports, a single suspect is believed to have targeted and burglarized at least three distinct local businesses on the holiday. The suspect gained entry by forcing open doors or breaking windows, rummaging through registers, and escaping with cash and merchandise before police could arrive on the scene.

For the affected store owners, the timing of the burglaries is particularly painful, coinciding with the start of the crucial holiday shopping season. "It's incredibly frustrating to wake up on Thanksgiving to a call from the security company," expressed one local boutique owner. "We rely heavily on this time of year to stay afloat, and now we are spending our resources fixing shattered doors and replacing stolen inventory instead of serving our customers."

LMPD detectives have reviewed surveillance footage from the businesses and are working to identify the perpetrator. They describe the suspect as carrying out the break-ins in rapid succession. Police urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the areas early on Thanksgiving morning or who has information about the crimes to contact the anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673).
