Louisville Man Charged with Wilder Park Home Invasion, Stabbing 14-Year-Old, and Attempted Rape
LOUISVILLE, Ky. โ A South Louisville neighborhood is on edge following a violent home invasion in Wilder Park that left a teenager injured and a local man behind bars. The suspect faces a battery of severe felony charges, including attempted rape, burglary, and assault, after allegedly breaking into a residence and stabbing a teenager who rushed to defend his mother.
According to official arrest citations from the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), the incident occurred at a home located on Whitney Avenue in the Wilder Park neighborhood. Investigators report that the suspect, identified as Fisal Hammad, unlawfully entered the home during the early hours of the morning. Once inside, Hammad allegedly made his way into a bedroom and crawled into bed with a sleeping female resident, initiating an attempted sexual assault.
A Brave Intervention
The victim's 14-year-old son was awakened by the commotion and entered the bedroom to check on his mother. Seeing an intruder in the bed, the teenager courageously confronted the suspect in an effort to protect her. During the ensuing physical struggle, Hammad allegedly pulled a sharp object and stabbed the boy in the shoulder.
Following the attack, Hammad fled the residence. However, in his haste, he took the victims' cell phones. This proved to be a critical mistake; LMPD investigators were able to use real-time GPS tracking on the stolen mobile devices to pinpoint Hammad's exact location in Louisville. Officers converged on the coordinates and took him into custody without further incident.
Community Impact and Pending Charges
Fisal Hammad has been booked into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC) on several felony counts, including first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, and attempted rape. He is currently being held on bond pending his preliminary court hearings. The 14-year-old victim was treated for his stab wound, which police confirmed was non-life-threatening, though the psychological trauma for the family remains high.
Local residents have expressed deep concern over the brazenness of the attack, prompting neighborhood watch coordinators in Wilder Park to advise residents to secure all doors, windows, and perimeter gates to prevent similar opportunistic entries.
