K-9 Unit Tracks and Apprehends Suspect in Lynchburg Smoke Shop Burglaries

LYNCHBURG, Va. — A suspect is in custody following a series of burglaries at a local smoke shop, thanks to the swift deployment and tracking capabilities of a Lynchburg Police Department K-9 unit.

According to police reports, officers responded to an alarm at a commercial smoke shop in Lynchburg. Upon arrival, officers discovered signs of forced entry and determined that a burglary had occurred. A search of the area was immediately initiated, and a K-9 unit was called to the scene to assist in tracking the suspect.

The K-9 Tracking Operation

The specialized police dog picked up a scent near the point of entry and led officers through a nearby wooded area and surrounding commercial properties. After a short pursuit, the K-9 successfully located the suspect, who was found hiding in the vicinity. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
