Double Break-Ins at Memphis AutoZone Stores Point to Coordinated Scheme

A string of commercial break-ins has put Memphis retail business owners on alert, following reports from the Memphis Police Department of duplicate burglaries at AutoZone auto parts locations. The targeted operations suggest a structured modus operandi designed to breach store security and escape before law enforcement arrives.

Authorities stated that the break-ins occurred under very similar circumstances, with physical damage at both properties indicating forced entry at points of vulnerability. Auto parts store burglaries have seen a rise in various metro areas, as items like specialized automotive computer scanners, catalytic converters, and heavy-duty batteries represent high-value, liquid assets for illicit street markets.

The MPD’s commercial burglary division is leading the inquiry. They are collecting digital video logs and forensic evidence from the scenes. AutoZone, which has its corporate headquarters in downtown Memphis, is reportedly cooperating fully with investigators to bolster security measures and identify the culprits.
