Burglars Steal $9,000 Cash and Multiple Firearms in East Memphis Home Break-In

MEMPHIS, TN — A residence in East Memphis was targeted by burglars who made off with a significant amount of cash and multiple firearms, raising major safety concerns for the surrounding community. The break-in took place on August 7, 2025, in an established neighborhood in the eastern part of the city.

According to the Memphis Police Department, the burglars forced entry into the home while the residents were away. Once inside, the perpetrators conducted a thorough search of the property, locating and stealing approximately $9,000 in cash. Additionally, the intruders stole several firearms from the residence, including handguns and rifles, before exiting undetected.

Firearms Theft Raises Public Safety Concerns

The theft of firearms is of particular concern to local law enforcement, as stolen weapons frequently end up in the hands of violent offenders or on the black market. Crime prevention officers are urging gun owners to store their firearms in secure, heavy-duty safes that are bolted to the floor to prevent easy removal during a burglary.

Ongoing Criminal Investigation

Detectives from the Memphis Police Department's burglary unit are actively investigating the incident. They are conducting neighborhood canvasses to locate potential witnesses and reviewing residential security camera systems, such as Ring doorbell cameras, for footage of suspicious individuals or vehicles in the area during the day of the break-in.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who may have seen suspicious activity in the East Memphis area on August 7, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH. Tips can also be submitted online, and all information is kept confidential.
