Heartbroken Memphis Woman Pleads for Return of Dog Stolen in Home Burglary
MEMPHIS, TN โ A Memphis woman is devastated and pleading for the safe return of her dog, which was stolen when burglars ransacked her home. The burglary has left the homeowner traumatized, but her primary concern is recovering her beloved pet.
The break-in occurred on January 8, 2026. The victim returned home to find her front door forced open and her house in disarray. While the thieves took several valuable items, including electronic devices and personal keepsakes, they also took the family dog, leaving the owner completely heartbroken.
โMaterial things can be replaced, but my dog is a member of my family,โ the tearful owner shared. โI don't care about the other items. I just want my dog back safe and sound. He is probably devastated and doesn't understand what is happening.โ
Pet theft during residential burglaries is an especially cruel crime that has been reported increasingly across the region. Purebred dogs or friendly, manageable pets are sometimes targeted by opportunist criminals looking to resell them online or to illegal breeders.
Local animal shelters, veterinary clinics, and rescue organizations have been notified and are on the lookout for the dog. The owner has also distributed flyers throughout the neighborhood and shared posts on social media platforms, hoping someone might recognize the pet. Memphis Police are investigating the burglary and checking nearby security footage. Anyone with information on the burglary or the whereabouts of the dog is urged to contact local authorities or Crime Stoppers immediately.
