Memphis Police Investigate Rapid Commercial Burglaries Targeting Fast-Food Chains

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department has launched a coordinated investigation into a series of rapid commercial burglaries targeting local fast-food restaurants, including two KFC locations that were hit within less than an hour of each other on September 1, 2025.

Police responded to the first break-in location early Monday morning, where suspects smashed a window to gain access to the building and target cash registers. Shortly after, a second call came in from another franchise location, reporting a similar entry method and theft. Investigators believe the timing and proximity of the crimes suggest they may be linked to the same crew.

Business owners in the area are being urged to secure their storefronts and ensure all security cameras are operational. The Memphis Police Department is asking members of the public who may have witnessed suspicious vehicles or individuals near the commercial corridors during the early hours of September 1 to contact detectives.
