Armed Suspects Attempt to Steal Vehicle from East Memphis Garage

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A family in East Memphis experienced a terrifying ordeal over the weekend when armed individuals attempted to steal a vehicle directly from their residential garage. The incident has raised safety concerns among neighborhood residents.

According to police reports, the attempted auto theft took place on May 17, 2026. Members of the household were shocked to discover armed men inside their garage attempting to gain access to their vehicle. Upon being confronted or realizing they could not easily take the car, the suspects fled the scene in a getaway vehicle before law enforcement arrived.
