Armed Suspects Caught on Camera Attempting Break-In Near Shelby Farms Park
MEMPHIS, TN — Residents in a neighborhood adjacent to Shelby Farms Park are expressing heightened safety concerns after home security cameras captured a group of armed suspects attempting to force entry into a residential property. The Memphis Police Department (MPD) has launched an investigation and is urging the public to help identify the individuals seen in the surveillance footage.
The attempted break-in occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, November 15, 2024. According to police reports, surveillance footage shows multiple suspects, each carrying visible handguns, walking around the perimeter of the home. The group attempted to breach one of the entry points, but the home's security doors held, preventing them from gaining access. The suspects fled the area shortly after in an unidentified getaway vehicle.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no property was stolen. However, the presence of multiple armed individuals in a quiet residential zone has put the local community on edge. Homeowners in the vicinity of Shelby Farms Park have reported an increase in patrol presence as MPD officers work to secure the neighborhood and deter further criminal activity.
"Seeing individuals walk up to a home with firearms in hand is deeply disturbing," said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. "This is a family neighborhood, and we expect to feel safe in our own yards. We hope the police catch these men quickly before they try this somewhere else."
Security analysts are advising residents to review their home security setups, emphasizing the importance of exterior motion lighting, reinforced deadbolts, and visible security cameras as effective deterrents. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects or containing further video footage is urged to contact Memphis Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
