‘This situation is out of control’: Burglars target Miami restaurant Ferraro’s — twice — amid string of local break-ins

MIAMI, Florida — The owner of an upscale Italian eatery on Miami's Upper Eastside is calling on police for increased security after his restaurant was burglarized twice in less than two months, highlighting a spike in business break-ins.

Repeated Targets on the Upper Eastside

Ferraro’s Kitchen, a popular dining spot run by chef and owner Igor Ferraro, has become the focal point of a local crime wave. The first break-in occurred in May 2024, during which thieves managed to steal financial documents, checks, and promotional gift cards. The business was struck a second time on the morning of July 4, 2024, when intruders again forced entry and ransacked portions of the property.

A Neighborhood Under Siege

Expressing deep frustration, Igor Ferraro stated, "Recently, this situation is out of control." His restaurant is not the only victim in the area. Other local culinary establishments, including Phuc Yea and Luna Pasta e Dolci, along with a nearby neighborhood supermarket, have experienced similar break-ins or theft attempts within the same timeframe. Business owners in the Upper Eastside neighborhood are coordinating with the Miami Police Department to request increased patrols and faster response times to curb the rising trend of property crimes.
