Search underway for four thieves accused of trying to rob Miami jewelry store

MIAMI, Florida — The Miami Police Department has launched an intensive search for a group of four burglars who attempted a daring, movie-style heist at a local jewelry store on Northwest 7th Street.

An Audacious Rooftop Break-In

The incident took place around midnight on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Ashley II Jewelry. Surveillance footage captured the four suspects implementing a highly organized plan to access the building. The thieves began by scaling the roof of an adjacent dental office, where they cut a hole in the ceiling structure. From there, they bypassed internal barriers to breach the adjacent wall into the jewelry store itself.

Safe Resists Breach as Alarm Sounds

Once inside Ashley II Jewelry, the suspects focused their efforts on a massive commercial safe. The video footage shows the men attempting to crack the safe using various tools. However, their efforts proved futile as the safe held strong. After triggering a secondary security alarm, the suspects panicked and fled empty-handed, escaping back through the hole in the roof before police arrived.

Investigators describe the suspect descriptions as vague, but are pleading with the local community to review the surveillance footage and report any suspicious activity in the area during the late-night hours.
