Miami Home Depot Security Specialist Arrested for Facilitating $260,000 Tool Theft Scheme

MIAMI, FL — A security specialist at a Miami Home Depot has been arrested after police discovered she was allegedly using her position to facilitate a massive shoplifting ring that stole approximately $260,000 in tools.

Investigators state that instead of preventing theft, the employee actively assisted the thieves by turning a blind eye to shoplifters, coordinating schedules to ensure minimal supervision during thefts, and letting suspects walk out of the store with cartloads of high-value tools. Over several months, these coordinated thefts cost the store a quarter-million dollars in losses.

The scheme came to light after corporate loss prevention investigators noticed discrepancies in store inventory and reviewed internal security feeds.
