Man arrested in knifepoint carjacking outside NW Miami-Dade home: Sheriff

MIAMI-DADE, Florida — Residents of a quiet Northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood are on edge following a brazen carjacking at knifepoint directly outside a residential home, which culminated in the swift arrest of a male suspect.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, the victim was outside their home when they were suddenly approached by an armed individual. The suspect brandished a knife, made threatening gestures, and demanded the victim hand over the keys to their vehicle. Fearing for their life, the victim complied with the assailant's demands.

The suspect immediately fled the area in the stolen vehicle. However, thanks to a rapid emergency response and the coordinate efforts of local patrol units, officers spotted the vehicle shortly after the incident was reported. Following a brief pursuit, law enforcement successfully stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody without further incident.

The suspect is facing multiple felony charges, including armed carjacking and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony. Authorities have praised the victim for prioritizing their personal safety during the volatile encounter.
