Miami Home Invasion Suspect Impersonated Police Officer During Early-Morning Break-In

Detectives in Miami are pleading for the public's assistance in identifying a home invasion suspect who masqueraded as a law enforcement official. The terrifying incident took place in the early morning hours, when the homeowner was awoken by a knock at the door and a voice claiming to be a police officer executing a search.

Believing the individual was a real officer, the occupant opened the door, only to be confronted by an armed criminal who forced his way inside. The suspect proceeded to search the home for valuables, holding the occupant at gunpoint. After obtaining cash and personal electronics, the impersonator fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle.

The Miami Police Department issued a warning to residents, reminding them that legitimate plainclothes officers will always present official credentials and badges, and citizens can call 911 to verify the identity of any officer at their door.
