Video shows suspect in custody after brazen burglary at Miami restaurant

MIAMI, Florida — A brazen rooftop burglary at a Miami restaurant ended in a swift arrest early Tuesday morning after the owner watched the crime unfold live on his security cameras.

The incident occurred at Momento by Ikaro, located off North Miami Avenue. The restaurant's owner alerted authorities after spotting an intruder inside the closed business shortly before dawn on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

According to Miami Police spokesman Mike Vega, the suspect pulled off a daring entry method. The burglar climbed onto the roof of an adjacent building, jumped onto the restaurant's outdoor tarp, and cut a hole through the fabric to drop down into the establishment. Once inside, the suspect headed straight for the restaurant's professional audio booth.

“This suspect definitely went in there knowing what he was going for. He went directly for the DJ equipment, which can easily run into the thousands of dollars,” Vega said. The restaurant owner noted that the business had been burglarized three other times in recent months, with the suspect targeting the same high-end audio gear each time.

Responding officers quickly established a perimeter around the block and deployed K-9 units to search the area. The suspect was located just two buildings away, hiding in a narrow alleyway behind what police described as a cage-like structure. Officers recovered a backpack containing stolen DJ components. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and faces charges of commercial burglary and grand theft.
