Bridgeport Man Arrested in Connection with Theft of 26 Tons of Aluminum in Milford

MILFORD, CT — Authorities have arrested a Bridgeport resident in connection with the large-scale theft of approximately 26 tons of aluminum from a local business, the Milford Police Department announced.

Investigation and Arrest

According to police reports, detectives initiated an investigation after the facility reported a massive discrepancy in their metal inventory. The missing industrial aluminum, valued at tens of thousands of dollars, had been systematically removed from the property. Investigators utilized surveillance footage, vehicle tracking, and transaction records from regional scrap yards to trace the stolen materials back to the suspect.

Following a thorough investigation, a warrant was issued for the Bridgeport man. He was located, taken into custody without incident, and transported to police headquarters for processing. Police believe the suspect targeted the industrial metal for its resale and recycling value in the secondary metals market.

Charges and Court Proceedings

The suspect faces several charges, including larceny in the first degree due to the high market value of the stolen aluminum. First-degree larceny in Connecticut is classified as a class B felony when the value of the stolen property exceeds $20,000. He was held on a court-set bond pending his arraignment at Milford Superior Court. Police noted that the investigation remains active as they look into whether other individuals were involved in transporting or selling the heavy materials.
