One Savvy Design and Nouvelle Boutiques Hit by Handbag Thieves in Montclair

An upscale handbag heist has impacted Montclair's luxury consignment market, with burglars targeting local retailers One Savvy Design and Nouvelle in New Jersey, police reported.

The coordinated break-ins, which took place in April 2024, involved thieves breaking into the stores to steal premium, authenticated designer handbags, including luxury brands known for high resale value. The loss of these unique consignment items has hit the local retail community hard, as many pieces belong to individual community members selling their personal items.

Police are reviewing security camera footage from the storefronts and surrounding sidewalks to track the movement of the burglars.
