Machete-Wielding Man Arrested After Armed Robbery in Muncie

MUNCIE, Indiana — Muncie police officers have arrested a local resident accused of using a machete to rob a victim of their personal belongings in a brazen outdoor confrontation, department officials reported.

According to the police report, the victim was approached by the suspect, who was carrying a large machete. The suspect brandished the blade in a threatening manner, demanding that the victim hand over their wallet and smartphone. Fearing immediate bodily harm, the victim complied with the demands. The suspect then fled the area on foot before authorities arrived.

Following a search of the surrounding neighborhood and interviews with the victim, law enforcement located the suspect matching the description. The individual was taken into custody without further incident. The stolen items were recovered, and the suspect has been booked into the Delaware County Jail on felony charges of armed robbery and carrying a dangerous weapon. He is currently awaiting a formal court hearing.
