Police Seek Multiple Suspects in Attempted ATM Theft at Murfreesboro Bank

MURFREESBORO, Tennessee — Local law enforcement officials are actively searching for multiple individuals involved in a brazen overnight attempt to steal an automated teller machine (ATM) from a Murfreesboro financial institution.

According to initial reports from the Murfreesboro Police Department, officers responded to an alarm at the bank branch early on April 3, 2026. Upon arrival, officers discovered substantial damage to the drive-up ATM structure and the surrounding bank property. Investigators believe a group of suspects attempted to rip the machine from its foundation using a vehicle, a tactic that has seen a rise in similar incidents across the region.

Despite causing significant destruction to the banking equipment, the perpetrators were ultimately unsuccessful in breaching the cash vault and fled the scene before police units arrived. Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the bank and neighboring businesses to identify the vehicles and individuals involved.

The Murfreesboro Police Department is urging anyone with information, or anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity near the bank in the early morning hours, to contact the Criminal Investigations Division or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
