ATF Offers $10K Reward After Car Smash-and-Grab at Murfreesboro Gun Range

MURFREESBORO, Tennessee — A joint task force consisting of the Murfreesboro Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has announced a combined reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of suspects who crashed a vehicle into a local gun range to steal firearms.

The dramatic incident unfolded in the early morning hours of May 2, 2026. Surveillance footage captured a vehicle ramming through the front entrance of the Murfreesboro gun range and retail facility. Multiple suspects emerged from the vehicle, breached the interior security gates, and stole a significant quantity of handguns and rifles before abandoning the crash vehicle and fleeing in a secondary getaway car.

While processing the extensive crime scene, investigators made a startling discovery: an inert rocket-propelled grenade (RPG)-like round was left behind near the point of entry. While law enforcement quickly determined that the device was physically inactive and posed no immediate explosive danger, its presence has added an unusual and concerning element to the federal investigation.

The ATF and NSSF are offering the financial reward to help recover the stolen firearms before they can be used in violent crimes. Authorities are urging the public to review security footage from surrounding roadways and report any details regarding suspicious vehicles in the area around the time of the crash.
