Machete-Wielding Suspect Arrested After Armed Robbery of Nashville Woman

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — A frightening armed robbery ended with a quick arrest in Nashville after a suspect armed with a machete allegedly threatened and robbed a local woman, Metro Nashville Police announced.

The victim reported to police that she was approached by an individual brandishing a large machete while she was near her residential street. The suspect demanded her personal belongings, including her purse and phone, while threatening physical violence. Fearing for her safety, the victim complied with the demands, and the suspect immediately fled the area on foot.

Responding patrol officers quickly saturated the neighborhood, searching for a suspect matching the distinct description provided by the victim. Within a short distance of the crime scene, officers spotted the suspect, who was still in possession of the weapon and the victim's stolen property. The individual was taken into custody without further incident and faces charges of especially aggravated robbery and carrying a weapon with intent to go armed.
