Three Teenagers Detained After Nashville Gun Store Burglary, High-Speed Chase, and Gunfire at MNPD Helicopter

NASHVILLE, TN — Three teenagers are in custody following a highly volatile series of events on Friday, May 23, 2025, that involved a gun store burglary, a high-speed vehicle pursuit, and gunfire directed at a police helicopter. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reported that the incident began when the youth suspects broke into a local gun shop to steal firearms.

Following the break-in, the suspects fled in a vehicle, leading officers on a wild chase through several Nashville neighborhoods. As patrol units attempted to intercept the fleeing car, the MNPD Aviation Unit provided aerial tracking. During the pursuit, one of the suspects fired multiple shots from the vehicle targeting the police helicopter overhead. Fortunately, the helicopter was not hit, and no officers were injured during the gunfire.

The pursuit ended when the suspects' vehicle was forced to stop, and officers quickly apprehended the three teenagers. A search of the vehicle yielded stolen firearms linked to the initial burglary. The suspects face multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, burglary, and felony evading arrest. The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine if the teens are connected to other recent area break-ins.
