Newark Police Seek Public Assistance to Identify Wendy's Burglary Suspect

NEWARK, NJ โ€” The Newark Police Department is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a commercial burglary at a local Wendy's restaurant. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of February 28, 2026, prompting a swift response from local detectives.

According to investigators, the suspect gained unauthorized entry into the fast-food establishment after hours by breaching one of the building's access points. Once inside, the suspect targeted the cash register area and office before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise. The incident was discovered by arriving staff later that morning, who immediately contacted law enforcement.

Detectives have released surveillance images of the suspect, hoping that someone in the community will recognize the individual. The suspect is described as a male wearing dark clothing, gloves, and a face covering to conceal his identity. Police are actively reviewing surrounding traffic and business cameras to trace the suspect's path of arrival and escape.
