Newark Police Hunt Three Suspects in Halsey Street Clothing Store Burglary

NEWARK, NJ — Detectives from the Newark Police Division are actively searching for three suspects involved in a commercial burglary at a clothing boutique located in the popular Halsey Street shopping district. The crime took place during the early morning hours of May 7, 2026.

According to police reports, the three suspects arrived at the storefront, disabled or bypassed the security locks, and forced entry into the establishment. Once inside, the group worked quickly to ransack the displays and shelves, stealing thousands of dollars worth of designer clothing, accessories, and store inventory. The suspects then loaded the stolen merchandise into a vehicle parked nearby and fled the area before officers arrived.

Halsey Street is known as a vibrant retail corridor, and local business owners have expressed concern over the brazen nature of the break-in. "We are working closely with the business community and utilizing all available resources, including city street cameras and private security footage, to identify the perpetrators," stated a Newark Police spokesperson.
