Two New Haven Smoke Shops Targeted in Sequential Burglaries Minutes Apart

NEW HAVEN, CT — Investigators are analyzing a series of break-ins after two different smoke shops in New Haven were burglarized within minutes of each other early Tuesday morning. Police believe the crimes may be connected due to the close proximity and timing of the incidents.

The New Haven Police Department responded to burglar alarms at both locations. Upon arrival, officers discovered signs of forced entry, including shattered glass doors and ransacked display cases. An initial inventory conducted by the business owners revealed that a significant amount of merchandise, including electronic cigarettes, tobacco products, and cash, had been stolen.

Given that the burglaries occurred just minutes apart, detectives are focusing their efforts on identifying a vehicle that may have been used to transport the perpetrators between the two shops. Surveillance systems captured footage of the break-ins, and forensic teams are processing evidence left at the scenes to identify the suspects.
