Suspect Arrested in Series of Brick-Smash Business Burglaries Along St. Claude Avenue

NEW ORLEANS, LA โ€” The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has successfully apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for a string of commercial burglaries that targeted local businesses along the St. Claude Avenue corridor. The arrest marks the conclusion of an investigation into a pattern of destructive break-ins that occurred over several months.

The St. Claude Avenue Break-Ins

The crime spree first drew significant public attention during the summer of 2024. In late July, surveillance footage captured a man utilizing a brick to shatter front glass windows of multiple businesses along St. Claude Avenue. The suspect was able to quickly enter the properties, ransacking cash registers and fleeing with valuables within minutes. These smash-and-grab operations caused thousands of dollars in property damage and disrupted local operations.

Continued Threats and Police Intervention

Despite increased patrols, businesses in the area faced continued threats. In November 2024, another wave of late-night attempted burglaries was reported, keeping commercial operators on high alert. NOPD detectives utilized surveillance footage from Project Golden Eagle and private security cameras to compile evidence and track the suspect's movements.

Following an extensive investigation, police officers located and arrested the suspect in October 2025. He now faces multiple counts of simple burglary and attempted simple burglary, bringing some relief to the local business community along St. Claude Avenue.
