Second Suspect Arrested in North Charleston Restaurant Copper Wire Theft
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. โ Police have arrested a second individual linked to the theft of copper wiring from a Ruby Tuesday restaurant in North Charleston. The arrest follows a prior apprehension in early February as authorities continue to crack down on commercial metal thefts.
Targeted Metal Theft at Closed Restaurant
The investigation began in early February 2026, when authorities discovered significant damage to the HVAC systems and electrical infrastructure of the Ruby Tuesday restaurant. Thieves had stripped valuable copper wiring from the units, causing thousands of dollars in property damage in addition to the value of the stolen materials. The first suspect was arrested on February 4, 2026, shortly after the initial theft was reported.
Second Suspect Taken Into Custody
Following further investigation and detective work, the North Charleston Police Department identified an accomplice. On March 18, 2026, police confirmed that a second suspect had been arrested. Both individuals face charges of grand larceny, damage to property to obtain nonferrous metals, and conspiracy. Authorities note that copper thefts remain a persistent issue for vacant or closed commercial properties in the region.
